Tiny Sculptures Created Using Fire & Burnt Matchsticks

Burning Matchstick Art

Russian photographer Stanislav Aristov creates unique tiny sculptures using only fire and spent matches. It all started when Stanislav entered a photo competition in Russia, unable to come up with an idea he struck a match before noticing the incredible patterns formed in the carbon of the used wood – and so the match art was born.

He explains, “I guess the funny thing is, I don’t even smoke. It was while I was watching the match trying to think of something that I began to think of how it represents life.”

Sadly he has had no exhibitions yet, he has almost no connections in photographic circles and his works are represented only on the internet. “Of course I want to show my works to English people as well as everywhere else where there is an interest.”

  1. This is very creative. I can’t imagine how this came about or how he learned how to do this. Too much time on one’s hands & much creative genius. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Would love to know if any of these pieces are for sale and the prices if they are. Blown away by the creativity and uniqueness of them.

    1. I don’t think they are available for sale because I don’t find info about it anywhere.
