Border collie Hekan proves he’s no one-trick-pooch by helping his owner to train horses. The talented one-year-old’s name is a shortened form of ‘he can do anything’ and he lives up to this every day as he lends owner Steve Jefferys a helping paw at Equestrian Excellence in Melbourne.
His duties include holding the horses as they’re saddled, taking them for walks on a lead and fetching items. But it doesn’t stop there; the wonder dog can also ride horses. Steve comments: ‘He’s an incredibly talented dog. He’s basically my secretary.’ Steve and Hekan train stunt horses for stage and film.
